How can we reduce plastic waste in hospitals ?
The NHS produces over 130,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year, and only around 4% of that is recoverable. Many thermometers that are used in hospitals require a single use plastic, so a plastic cap that goes over the end of the device so that it can be used with the patient. In some cases, if a reading has to be taken two or three or four times, then you’re quadrupling the amount of plastic waste that is going to be used, that is going to be created during that temperature measurement. With the TRITEMP™ non contact thermometer, we require no single use plastics.
